Meet our Secretariat
Secretary-General: Matthew Haimowitz
Matthew has been doing Model UN since 2018, and is proud to preside over the conferences hosted by CWRU as Secretary-General for the 2024-2025 academic year. Matthew has previously served as Secretary and Chief of Staff at CWRU, and has presided over the CabMUN III conference at Cab Calloway School of the Arts in 2022. He is a third-year student from Newark, DE studying biology on the pre-med track, with an additional love for music, playing in the klezmer and steel drum ensembles.
Director-General: Anshul Magal
Anshul Magal is a current junior, studying Finance and Business IT in the Weatherhead School of Management. He joined CWRUMUN as a freshman, chairing crisis committees, and is excited to be returning as a member of the Secretariat this year! Outside of CWRU, he is a part of the executive team of NHSMUN, an international MUN conference held in New York. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, working out, and classical music
Undersecretary-General: Alan Lee
Alan has been active in Model United Nations since 2017 and is excited to serve as the CWRUMUN Home Team’s Undersecretary-General. A third-year student studying biology on the pre-med track, he has previously served as CWRUMUN’s Treasurer for the 2023-2024 term. Hailing from Taipei, Taiwan, he is also active in the local Taiwanese American community. In his free time, Alan likes to play some baseball and work as CWRU’s SafeRide driver.
Chief of Staff: Aashi Gupta
Aashi is a first-year student studying Neuroscience and English from Cleveland, Ohio. She began her Model UN career with the CCWA MUN conferences, and is thrilled to serve as Chief of Staff for the 2024-2025 school year. In her free time, she likes spending time with her dog or trying to learn a new dance choreography.
Technology Manager: Tharun Viswanathan
Tharun has been doing Model UN since 2019 and loves money. Therefore it comes as no surprise that he oversees the club's digital endeavors for the 2024-2025 academic year. Tharun has previously represented CWRUMUN on the travel team, winning an honorable mention at the Midwest Training conference simulation. He is a second-year student studying computer engineering, and plays the piano in his spare time. Some of his interests include sports and video games.
